Bukit Tabur hiking and back alive to blog about it.

Bukit Tabur also known as Bukit Melawati situated right next to the MRR2 further down after the Zoo Negara. I would say it's the toughest hiking I've experienced in my life, compared with Genting Trailblazer, this is 10x the danger and the toughness. First started with non stop very steep hill climb full with sharp rock formations.

Hill's reflection on the reservoir.

Lone pointy peak among the hills.

Sun is rising up.

More reflections on the reservoir.

The view along the route.

It was just like Bkt Gasing's steepest hill section, then when we reached at the first pit stop, minor rock climbing was required. As we reached the top I thought to myself, well it ain't that bad like people said, boy I was dead wrong. The route to go across the next peak, you need to do some dangling around with ropes ie. SDU type, moreover the drop below is about >30m if you slip. Just looking down below waiting for Aaron to finish his descend is scaring the shit out of me. As we were doing the next rock climbing I hope for the best that no more rope routine on the next descend.

Nice mist effect.

Aaron taking pictures.

Felt like sitting on that rock but then, too scared.

Guess what, I'm dead wrong again, this time even steeper and you can't see where to plant your feet on your way down. Holding the rope with all my might, clinging for life, I descend step by step with the guide from Aaron, I don't wish to drop and die there.

More rock climbing was next. It really strains your brain just to figure out how to maneuver your way up. I was clinging to my life just by 4 fingers on every rock each step up. When we reached the top we took a breather, the view was pretty, yet I had no mood to take anymore picture. The small patch of land I'm standing and height is enough to make me break a cold sweat.

Our route down. No walking paths. Just vertical rocks. It's a loooong way down...

Good morning KL!!

Hell yea!!!! No touch up, no fancy camera!! This is real!! It's already my PC's wallpaper right now.

At the top!!

Ready to get down.

How hard was our descend? Look here. We came from the top.

Aaron told me we're go forward to the route down, ahh what a relive.......not......more dangling around. I have to hug a huge protruding rock to go across at one section. Once again I dare not look below, my back is facing towards a long way free fall drop. We completed the rock descend, we walk our way down the hill slowly. We encountered a small snake and a number of leeches along the way. He told me better to check ourselves for any bloodsuckers at the parking.

We reached the parking at 9.15am, 2hours 15min the whole journey, I took off my shoes to change to my sandals, and I had a family of leeches in between all my toes. Big, small, fat, long, you name it, I got all the sizes there. Aaron helped me taking them off. Urrghhh there goes my breakfast and lunch.

One of the doggies that greeted us, when we reached.

Bleeding like mad, non stop for 2 hours after peeling the leeches off.

Here are my toughness ratings for each hill I've went before :
1. Bkt Gasing 1/10
2. FRIM 2/10
3. Genting Trailblazer 6/10
4. Bukit Panorama(Sg Lembing) 2/10
5. Bkt Tabur 10/10!!!

PS : I'm glad there's someone on standby to call for help if I'm not back in time. The other fella hopeless case really can't be relied on, he thinks I'm joking bout the dangers there till now.

I totally agreed with what you say. This is really dangerous & tough. I was told that only 2x Bukit Gasing. Mana tau 10X. Luckily I never think of falling down while I was there. If not sure I patah balik liao. But anyway worth it.

Nice Pix.
