Let's recap how much crime I had went through in less than 1 year.

June 2012 - Times Square, Pudu. Witness a snatch theft right in front of my eyes as I was driving towards my office. Tried to block the motorcyclist with my car as he's dashing out of the pedestrian lane, unfortunately he managed to evade me. I gave a chase all the way all the way to the T-junction at Pudu Jail, it was red light, I had to stop my car from going towards moving traffic but that guy managed to snatch another bag while he ran the red light. Immediately try to make report to police at the beat station in Times Square, but was turned down by the police as they mentioned their role is only for tourist not Malaysians. Advised me to report at Pudu police station which is several KM away. I can't find back the auntie who fell down on the street and from the cold response from police at the beat station, I gave up on reporting.
July 2012 - Miharja LRT Parking. My other car got stolen. Several police station visits and things were not handled even professionally, especially when I wanted to close the case after several months to claim insurance of total lost. The office looked like someone's kitchen, filled with tahpau food on table, fridge and.....not surprisingly a kitchen. The only thing that looks like it's an office is just the Photostat machine. While processing my documents several makciks walked in and out gossiping with them. It took me 45min just to get my document closed.
Dec 2012 - Pandan Cheras. My other half's handbag got snatched as she was about to go to her house. 2 motorcyclists followed her car as she was driving and pounced on her as she left her car. Took a day off to report and to reapply all the documents back.
Jan 2012 - Maluri/Pudu. I was on my way to work. A motorcyclist came and revs his motorcycle next to me; I did not give much of an attention as most idiots on 2 wheels are like that. Then he started shouting at me, calling me to fight while I was moving. I was pretty sure 100% I did not do anything wrong or hit anyone. I stayed in my car. At one the traffic light, he came and stops right in front of my car and kept challenging me out to fight. Shifted to 1st gear in case any weapons are drawn, luckily several cars beside me and behind horn nonstop then he gave up and left. Came home saw on FB that someone else had the same experience of the tactic used, guess it was really an attempted robbery.
So you were saying our crime rate is still low? I felt more safe walking at night in Phuket than in Bukit Bintang.
Keep yourself safe
1. Be aware your surroundings.
2. No not stash your handbag by the passenger seat.
3. Nothing is more important than your own life.
4. Horn or make yourself an attention if sense anything wrong, horn, scream or whatever.
5. Try to stay away from sling bags. They are dangerous if there's snatching. You would be dragged or fall on the floor.
6. Stay in the car. Do not come out to inspect or anything. Drive to nearest police station.
7. Learn up the hit points should there's a need to fight for your life. If kicking nuts, dig eyeballs would save you from unavoidable danger, by all means do it, run if there's a chance.
